Zinedine Zidane
Zinedine Zidane, coach of Real Madrid, expressed his admiration for Andrés Iniesta on the day the footballer announced his departure from Barcelona. He stated that Iniesta's football is above club rivalry and that he deserved "the Ballon d'Or when he won the World Cup."
"For those who love football, it is difficult to see a player like Andrés leave. I don't see him as a Barcelona player, but as a football player for what he is. I don't know him personally very well, but the three times I have coincided with him, he is charming. He is very reserved, which I like in people who show it on the field and are quieter outside. I wish him the best for his future, especially as a person," Zidane said.
The French coach, winner of the Ballon d'Or, joined the trend that believes it is unfair that Iniesta did not receive one for his football.
"When we talk about Iniesta, we are not talking about clubs, but about an extraordinary player in the world of football. I admired and admire how he plays. We don't need to talk about individual titles because he didn't win the Ballon d'Or, but he deserved it when he won the World Cup by scoring in the final after an incredible year. I think he deserved it."
