Mehdi Benatia, defender of Juventus who committed the controversial penalty at the end against Lucas Vázquez, defended himself like this.

The Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia does not hesitate to call the elimination suffered by his team in the Champions League quarterfinals a "violation", despite winning 3-1 against Real Madrid in the second leg of the quarterfinals.

"It's a violation, what do you want me to say, it's a violation. We played the game we wanted to, we were winning 3-0 in Madrid and then this action happens in the last minute," complained Benatia referring to the penalty he committed against Lucas Vázquez which resulted in the winning goal for Real Madrid.

"He did it right, he falls down and the referee awards a penalty in the last minute. I've seen a lot of matches, I've played them, and you can never call a penalty like this in the 93rd minute," said Benatia.

"I didn't push him. If there's contact, it's with my thigh and that's part of the game, I never intended to bother him or push him," he said.

"It's hard, you really get the feeling that we've been violated, just like last year they violated Bayern Munich with two or three offside goals, if I'm not mistaken," he said.

"The same story always repeats itself. Real Madrid is a great team, and they don't need these things. Everyone knows that this match should have gone to extra time and let the best team win," he concluded.
