The Qatar national team is shaping up to be one of the invitees to the 2019 Copa America that will be held in Brazil from June 14th to July 7th next year, as confirmed in Bilbao by Ivan Bravo, CEO of Aspire, the country's national sports academy.
Bravo unveiled the invitation to the Qatari team during one of the work sessions of the II Bilbao International Football Summit (BIFS'18), a forum that brings together different personalities from international football, moderated by Luis Villarejo, Sports Director of Agencia EFE.
The responsible of Aspire highlighted that the participation of the emirate's team in the great tournament of national teams in America will be one more step in the formation of the young group of footballers with which he works for the 2022 World Cup that Qatar will organize.
""It will be their first time against teams like Brazil or Argentina. It will be a great experience for this generation that will serve to naturalize the fact of competing in great scenarios and against great rivals to try to compete when the World Cup arrives"", highlighted Bravo.
This BIFS'18, which has 150 attendees registered, including sports directors, coaches and football players, started with a talk about the current state of women's football and the challenges it faces, which was attended by the captain of Eibar, Ainhoa Alonso.
After Bravo's conference, which has shared a table with the newly appointed football director of Real Sociedad, Roberto Olabe, the Spanish and Belgian national team coaches, Julen Lopetegui and Roberto Martinez, the former Brazil and Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari and the former international player Xabi Alonso will also give lectures.
