Gerard Piqué scores in Barcelona vs Roma Champions League match
Gerard Piqué may be a central defender, but he has the soul of a striker. That's why we sometimes see him venturing into the opposing area in search of goals. And he finally got one in the quarterfinal match of the Champions League between Barcelona and Roma.
When Barcelona was leading 2-0 thanks to two own goals, Messi started a play on the right, played a long pass to Suárez, and he set up the play to leave Piqué alone. As the images show, the ball was perfectly placed for Gerard.
After Suárez's shot, Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker gave a rebound that Piqué only had to tap in to score the third goal of the night at Camp Nou. It couldn't have been easier for Valverde's team.
The icing on the cake came almost at the end of the Barcelona vs Roma match with Luis Suárez's goal. He took advantage of a hesitation in the Italian area to score after over a year of drought in the Champions League. The Uruguayan star hadn't celebrated a goal since the comeback against PSG in 2017.
