New York Red Bulls finalize their strategy at the rojiblanco stadium ahead of tomorrow's match against Chivas, and for this commitment, the team from the Big Apple arrives without fear. According to their coach, Jesse Marsch, they won't defend themselves; instead, they will attack to harm the Rebaño.
"Chivas has its own style, and so do we. It will be an interesting game. We are not here to defend for 90 minutes; we have to make sure that there will be moments when they attack us, but we like to go after them, run, press, be aggressive, and we will do that tomorrow. It may be ugly at times, but it will be two aggressive teams, and it will be exciting for the fans."
The head coach added that he knows very well the passion that is experienced in the Chivas stadium and he knows Almeyda's work, so he knows that it will be a difficult duel for his players.
"Well, not everyone can know it, but I played for Chivas USA in the United States. We have a connection with the club, and there are people involved with Chivas Guadalajara. It's different from when I was there, but Jorge Vergara is still there, and what I know about Chivas is the passion of the fans, the club, the owner. The responsibility with this club and this country. I know the culture of Chivas well, and especially this team. Almeyda has done a great job, how they play and what they are. It doesn't matter who is on the field; they play the same way, they are protagonists, and we expect the same in these games. We have a lot of respect and we prepare for the best."
Marsch acknowledged that in the game against Tijuana in the previous round, they had a great night from their goalkeeper, Luis Robles, but that against Chivas it will be a completely different story.
"For me, the biggest difference is the history of Chivas, the success in their style of play, the atmosphere in Guadalajara, playing at altitude, with this stadium. It's a bigger, more difficult task, and it will require us to play better than we did. In Tijuana, we were lucky and had a great performance from our goalkeeper, but the task for today is a very big one."
"I saw what Herrera said, isn't it strange that it's something controversial? He is correct in some aspects. Liga MX has been better than MLS, but our league is growing, and lately, we have our chance on the field. This year, both MLS teams have a great challenge, but we are more prepared than in the past. Chivas and América are very talented, they spend a lot of money, they have great coaches, and it will be a big task, but we are ready for it."
