Quinn Cook's Major Plan With The Warriors

Golden State Warriors backup point guard Quinn Cook wants to secure a guaranteed deal with the Warriors by the end of the season.

Golden State Warriors backup point guard Quinn Cook wants to secure a guaranteed deal with the Warriors by the end of the season.

With the injury to Stephen Curry, it has given opportunities for others on the team to step up and Quinn Cook has jumped at the opportunity.

He is currently on a two-way contract though and to get onto the playoff roster the Golden State Warriors would have to sign him to a guaranteed contract.

The Warriors would also have to release someone from their roster as they already have 15 guaranteed contracts which is the most that an NBA team can have. Cook feels like he has done enough to earn a roster spot for the playoffs and one of those guaranteed contracts.

“I want to secure a guaranteed deal,” Cook told ESPN. “I know I’m an NBA player, and I want to continuing proving that.”

With Curry being out with an MCL Sprain now it should be Cook who steps back into that starting role, a place he has thrived.

So far this season Cook has played 23 games with the Warriors averaging 6.9 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

As of late though those numbers have risen. He has scored in double figures in each of the last five games and in that stretch he had a career-high of 28 points in one of the games.

In terms of making the playoff roster according to ESPN the Warriors have had no discussion with his camp about making the playoff roster.

If Curry is to miss any time in the playoffs though, the Warriors might not have any other choice but to put him on it.
