The coach of Germany, Joachim Low, ensures that the level of the Mexican National Football Team is strong and on par with teams like Argentina or Chile.
Prior to the friendly match between Germany and Spain this Friday, the coach spoke at a press conference and recognized the quality of the Mexican team, their first opponent in the 2018 World Cup.
"We know Mexico from the Confederations Cup. They are a strong team, with very good players, and in recent years they have been playing at the level of teams like Argentina and Chile," he told the media.
The 'Tri' and Germany will have their first match in Russia on June 17th, corresponding to Group F of the tournament, where the current world champion is the clear favorite to win.
Toni Kroos, German midfielder for Real Madrid, knows that defending the title will be difficult, hence the importance of having a great World Cup from the first match onwards.
"Winning a World Cup is difficult, but defending the title is even more so. We have a great team here that can and wants to win everything," he said at the press conference.
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen made it clear that none of the opponents they will face in Russia (Mexico, Sweden, and South Korea in the first round) will be easy, and they will have to face them all with the same seriousness if they want to go far.
"We know we have a lot of quality in the team, and we go into the World Cup with high aspirations. We also know that we have to take every match very seriously," he commented.
