Peruvian midfielder Joel Sánchez: "Psychological factors affect our performance at home"
Peruvian midfielder Joel Sánchez, from the Mexican team Querétaro, said today that the low performance of his team when playing at home may have a psychological cause.
"I attribute it to psychological factors, there is anxiety to achieve a positive result and that sometimes plays against us; desperation prevents things from flowing and us from staying focused", he commented.
Querétaro has three draws and three losses in six home games, which puts them as the only team without victories at home and has caused coach Luis Fernando Tena's team to appear out of the qualification zone, in thirteenth place with 13 points.
"It's time to reflect, work, fine-tune details and bring joy to the fans", he said.
Joel Sánchez has started in five of Querétaro's 12 matches, and the rest of the time he has honed his form in the Copa Mx team and in the institution's branch.
In a press conference, the player said he is ready to join the main team if Tena decides and trusts in earning a spot to help seek qualification.
Although he hinted at being available wherever the coach puts him, Joel Sánchez admitted feeling more comfortable when playing a more offensive position and being able to reach the opponent's goal, although he can also defend.
Querétaro is four points away from the qualification zone of the Clausura 2018 tournament and according to the Peruvian's opinion, they need a stable performance to enter it.
"We have been inconsistent, there is much to improve and we are going to take advantage of this time to fine-tune details", he commented when referring to the break in activity due to the FIFA date, which will allow teams to make adjustments.
