The Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti believes that Real Madrid and Barcelona, next opponents of Juventus and Roma in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, "are favorites" because they have (Portuguese Cristiano) Ronaldo and (Argentine Lionel) Messi, respectively.
Ancelotti also explained in an interview published this Saturday in the Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport" that Real Madrid and Barcelona are at the same level, although the Azulgranas have a 15-point lead over the Whites in the Spanish League.
The former Real Madrid coach is convinced that playing the quarterfinals with home and away matches gives Juventus and Roma a better chance than if they were to face Madrid and Barcelona in a single match.
"Of course, Champions League matches are decided by small details. In a single match, a refereeing error is enough to be eliminated. Madrid and Barcelona are favorites because of their experience and because they have Ronaldo and Messi," he said.
"Surely (Juventus and Roma) are not favorites, because they are facing two European football powers. But they can play their chances," he added.
Ancelotti, European champion with Real Madrid in 2014, also said that Juventus has more experience compared to Roma and for this reason he sees the Turinese with more chances of advancing to the next round compared to the Romans.
