Manchester City vs Basilea: Champions League

Although the tie had been resolved in the first leg (0-4), the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 between Manchester City and Basilea, played last Wednesday, attracted the attention of several scouts.

According to ESPN, scouts from Arsenal, Leicester City, and Southampton were present in the stands of the Etihad Stadium with the clear objective of following the performances of a player from the visiting team who has had an undoubtedly remarkable season, the Norwegian international Mohamed Elyounoussi (7 goals and 13 assists in all competitions).

In the match, the 23-year-old midfielder of Moroccan origin fulfilled the expectations by scoring one of the two goals for his team, actively participating in the second goal, and ultimately being the key driving force behind the commendable victory of the Swiss team on English soil (1-2).

Although his contract with St. Jakob Park extends until June 2021, his agent, Ferhat Cifici, has already made it clear that he will do everything in his power to facilitate a change of scenery at the end of the season. "I don't want to specifically talk about certain clubs, but there are many teams interested in Mohamed. He was the man of the match against Manchester City and I know that some clubs went to see him in that game. His performances at Basilea have made many teams take notice of him and what he can do at the highest level. The boy is ready to take the next step in his career, and I have many meetings planned with clubs to see what happens," he asserted.
