On Thursday, the UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings against PSG for the flares ignited by its fans in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 match against Real Madrid, where the French team was eliminated. The continental organization will announce its verdict on March 22.

"Use of pyrotechnic devices," "Use of laser beams," "Obstruction of stairways," and above all "Insufficient organization" are the charges against PSG following their lost match against Real Madrid (1-2, in addition to a previous 1-3 defeat in the first leg).

The UEFA disciplinary body will "review the report on March 22," stated the organization on its website. The referee had to interrupt the match on two occasions and the stadium announcer requested both times that the fans cease using flares. On Tuesday, the newspaper L'Equipe reported that about 150 flares were ignited in the stadium, mainly in the Auteuil stands, where PSG ultras have been gathering since October 2016. According to the same sports medium, PSG runs the risk of being sanctioned with a match behind closed doors in European competitions. AFP
