Real Madrid's Next Project: A Radical Transformation in Defense

Although Real Madrid's next project will depend largely on what happens in today's match against Paris Saint-Germain and, ultimately, how far the team can go in the Champions League, it seems clear that the squad will undergo a major transformation next summer.

Among the positions that the club wishes to strengthen for the coming season is the central defense. They believe that young Jesús Vallejo is not yet fully prepared to compete in a team subjected to such high demands, which is why they have already started looking for a new center-back who can challenge Raphaël Varane, Sergio Ramos, and Nacho for a starting position.

In recent weeks, the press has consistently linked players such as Leonardo Bonucci (AC Milan), Milan Skriniar (Inter Milan), Toby Alderweireld (Tottenham), and Lucas Hernandez (Atlético Madrid) to the team. However, the player who would meet their expectations is none other than the Uruguayan José María Giménez (Atlético Madrid, 23 years old).

"Madrid is interested in two center-backs. One is Lucas Hernandez, who is very versatile, but the one they like the most is Giménez, who had a spectacular performance against Barcelona. He is an exceptional defender who has developed alongside Godín and has a release clause of 60 million euros. Additionally, he is very levelheaded," confirmed journalist Eduardo Inda last night on the program "El Chiringuito de Jugones."
