In just four minutes and 44 seconds, Mexican-rooted fighter Brian Ortega became the first fighter to finish veteran Frankie Edgar in the co-main event of UFC 222 held in Las Vegas.
The fight predicted that it would be even and Edgar showcased his veteran skills, overcoming a reach and size disadvantage with excellent footwork, attacking in combination and counterattacking, and avoiding his opponent's dangerous grappling.
But the fashionable prospect in the featherweight division wasn't intimidated and knew how to measure his opponent's advances until he found his moment.
A counterpunch elbow stunned "The Answer" and Ortega went all out on the attack, connecting a fierce uppercut that sealed the deal. With this victory, Ortega virtually becomes the next challenger for the featherweight belt currently held by Max Holloway.
