Lunes 26 de Febrero del 2018

Neymar came out on a stretcher with tears in his eyes against Marseille. PSG released the medical report, and although they did not provide an estimated time, it is not encouraging when considering Real Madrid.

Neymar suffers ankle sprain and metatarsal fracture associated

Neymar, PSG star, suffers an ankle sprain on his right ankle and an associated fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his foot, an injury he suffered on Sunday against Marseille, which makes him doubtful for the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Real Madrid on March 6.

According to a statement released on Monday by the club, the player underwent further tests, specifically an ultrasound and a scan, which revealed "an ankle sprain in the external anterior ligament of the right ankle with an associated fracture of the fifth metatarsal."

PSG does not specify the length of the absence, but this associated fracture could jeopardize his presence in the decisive match against Real Madrid, in which the French team has to overcome the 3-1 result from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

The player had to be taken off on a stretcher in the final stages of Sunday's league match against Olympique de Marseille, the classic of French football, when his team was winning 3-0 at the Parc des Princes.

With evident pain and hands covering his face, the most expensive player in history was replaced by Argentine Ángel di María amidst the general shock of the crowd.

PSG also confirmed that an ultrasound taken on Brazilian defender Marquinhos, a key player in the Parisian defense, showed a grade 1 muscle injury in his left quadriceps, without specifying the recovery time.
