The speed skating team from the United States received several criticisms due to the uniforms they wore at the Winter Olympics.

The speed skating team from the United States was one of the main protagonists of the Winter Olympics that are taking place in Pyeongchang, South Korea. But not only because of the spectacular numbers they achieved in competition.

The North American skating team also caught attention for their strange uniforms, which have a gray patch that highlights the crotch area.

The brand Under Armour, one of the most important in the United States, was in charge of designing this suit. Although the uniform is black with white legs, the most striking feature is the gray patch they included in the groin area.

"The material of the patch on the inner thigh reduces friction. The addition of a second panel reduced the friction even more, by 60%. Athletes love the look and receive compliments from other countries," explained Under Armour, which took four years to develop the suit.

"No matter the science behind this, it doesn't look good," joked journalist Darren Rovell on his Twitter account, where many fans made fun of this curious suit.
