After six suspended days, Édgar Méndez will finally return to play in the League.
The Spanish forward was sanctioned with that number of matches after spitting at Alejandro Díaz, from América, in the second leg of the previous tournament's quarterfinals, which is the reason why he had to miss the first third of the championship.
So far, Méndez has only played in the Copa Mx, accumulating 270 minutes in the three matches that La Máquina has played in the cup tournament, with one goal in the competition.
"I have already fulfilled what I had to fulfill, the past is the past and now what's next is to get up, try to do things well so that everyone forgets what I did. One goes through a tough time because they take away what they love the most, but it was a moment of anger. I'm also not a 21-year-old child to be doing those foolish things, I've already fulfilled, I've already learned from my mistakes, and I know it won't happen again," said Édgar in a press conference.
And from a distance, the Spanish footballer has seen how Cruz Azul has not been able to have a good start to the tournament, only accumulating six points out of the 18 that have been disputed. He doesn't understand the reason, as he affirms that they have worked well with Pedro Caixinha.
"We put a lot of dedication into it, we train very well; if one sees the training sessions, there is no problem at all, we do things well, but when we get to the matches, we don't arrive clearly up front, we don't score the goals we need to win a match; at home, it's costing us, but I believe we're in time to change the dynamic, to change everything, and that's our mentality."
