One of the players who did not want to leave Real Madrid at the end of last season was Mateo Kovacic. The Croatian midfielder, although it is true that he did not enjoy many minutes under Zinedine Zidane, had the confidence to alternate in the team, but his situation has not changed this season. He continues on the bench and AS Roma is interested in having his services.
This was reported this Thursday by the Corriere dello Sport digital edition. In fact, the mentioned Italian media suggests that Monchi, the sports director of Roma, has already informed Real Madrid of his desire to take Mateo Kovacic through the general director of the Madrid team, José Ángel Sánchez.
The management of Roma knows that they would lose some good players from their squad due to the interest of teams like Chelsea. Kevin Strootman and Radja Nainggolan are the ones expected to leave 'La Loba' and Kovacic seems to be the replacement for one of them. However, a decision has not been made yet by Real Madrid.
Real Madrid will decide who leaves and who enters the club at the end of the season, as at that time they will also analyze the continuity of Zinedine Zidane, who is on the brink of being out of the La Liga, Copa del Rey, and about to play against PSG in the Champions League Round of 16.
According to the 'Transfermarkt' website, Mateo Kovacic has a value of 25 million euros, although Real Madrid could ask for 10 million more. As you may recall, the former Inter Milan player arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu at the request of former Real Madrid coach, Spanish Rafael Benítez.
