Triple H was 23 years old when he joined the WWE. He came from the independent circuit, where he had a character that came from France. Vince McMahon disagreed with this, so he decided to give him a complete transformation.
It was then that he decided to name him Reginald DuPont Helmsley. Triple H did not like this at all, so he asked the WWE boss to change his mind.
After several days, he got to know the character they had created for him: Hunter Hearst Helmsley. The wrestler accepted, but it was the abbreviation that became popular.
The day after his new name, Shawn Michaels decided to call him Triple H. This struck a chord with WWE fans, who still know him by this nickname.
Currently, Triple H works as an executive in the WWE, but still wrestles occasionally. The last time was a couple of months ago, during a company tour around the world.
