Former Argentine footballer Julio Zamora facing bankruptcy

The former forward of the Argentine national team, Newell's Old Boys, and River Plate, Julio Zamora, is on the verge of bankruptcy due to a $20,000 debt he owes to a medical center in Bolivia. This debt was acquired after his hospitalization in November of last year following a stroke.

"I am alive but with nothing, what I gained in football I lost," Zamora had said before breaking into tears during a press conference in Bolivia, as reported by the newspaper Los Tiempos, from Cochabamba.

Upon learning about this, and after already contributing a portion of the treatment expenses, Newell's decided to step in. The club launched a fundraising campaign to help one of their idols.

"The people from Newell's have been very supportive of me," the former player stated in an interview with A diario, a program broadcasted on Radio 2.
