The 2018 Winter Olympics, which will take place from February 9th to 25th in the Korean city of Pyeongchang, set their first record one week before the opening ceremony. Although this has little to do with the sports part.
It turns out that for this year's edition of the Winter Olympics, the largest amount of condoms will be distributed to athletes in the history of this competition.
In total, the organizers plan to distribute 110,000 condoms throughout the fifteen days of the competitions from February 9th to 25th, which is 10,000 more condoms than in Vancouver 2010 or Sochi 2014.
This equals an average of 37.6 condoms per athlete, as there are 2,925 participants enrolled. But athletes are not the only ones who can use them.
"Condom baskets will be placed in the men's and women's bathrooms" of the Olympic villages of Pyeongchang and Gangneung, in the main press center, and in the media village, as well as in medical centers, announced the organizers.
