The management by Ramón Ábila was born out of the need to have a top-notch number 9 in case Darío Benedetto left. The outstanding performance by El Pipa in 2017 attracted the attention of several foreign teams and Boca wanted to protect themselves, not only by finding a replacement, but also by securing him financially. The plan worked perfectly, but the absence of the star was due to an injury that will keep him out until mid-2018, which led to Ex-Huracán player, Ábila, being named as the starting player even before his first training session.
