A few days before the start of the Winter Olympic Games, the Mexican delegation that will compete in Pyeongchang 2018 was presented, an event that will begin on February 9.

During the ceremony, three out of the four Mexicans who will participate in the winter event were present: Robert Franco, Rodolfo Dickson, and Germán Madrazo. The latter qualified for the Winter Olympics last week and also trained with the famous Tonga flagbearer, Pita Taufatofa.

The only athlete who was not present was Sarah Schleper, as she is currently training in Milan, Italy, prior to the start of Pyeonchang.

Germán Madrazo, the cross-country skier, was in charge of receiving the Mexican flag. The escort was led by Robert Franco, Rodolfo Dickson, and Carlos Pruneda, head of the delegation.

"Being at your flag-raising ceremony, behind your flag, is an incredible thing and fills you with adrenaline," said the head of the delegation after the protocol ceremony held at the Mexican Olympic Committee.

Pruneda expressed his satisfaction with the representatives that Mexico will send to the winter event, as this time there will be more competitors than on previous occasions. Rodolfo Dickson, in particular, has a chance of achieving a good position in the giant slalom event.

"We are delighted that we have always sent one athlete and now we have four, 400 percent more. In addition, we have athletes in many disciplines, and especially in one with very high chances of a very good ranking, so we are very excited," commented Pruneda.

Carlos Pruneda, the head of the delegation, will leave for Pyeongchang on Wednesday, while Dickson, Franco, and Madrazo will depart on February 3 but will arrive at the Olympic Games venue on February 5, the same day Sarah Schleper will join them.

The hoisting of the Mexican flag at the Pyeongchang Olympic Village will take place on February 7.

The Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games will take place from February 9 to 25.
