Cincinnati Reds sign reliever David Hernández to a two-year contract
The Cincinnati Reds signed Mexican-American reliever David Hernandez to a two-year, five million dollar contract on Tuesday, confirmed the Major League Baseball team.
The 32-year-old right-hander will earn 2.5 million dollars annually under the agreement and could earn an additional million in each season in performance bonuses.
Last season, Hernandez had a earned run average of 3.11 in 64 games with the Los Angeles Angels and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The star reliever has also pitched for the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Cincinnati's bullpen had the highest number of walks and hit batsmen in the Majors last year and allowed the most runs in the League.
The bullpen's ERA was 5.65, the second worst in the National League.
