Three Juveniles Dominate the National Archery Championship

Juveniles Iván González, María Espinosa, and Karyme Rodríguez showcased their skills and accuracy at the National Outdoor Archery Championship. They emerged victorious in the recurve discipline, defeating the experienced Luis Álvarez, Aida Román, and Mariana Avitia.

In the marathonic event held at the Mexican Olympic Sports Center, Iván González from Coahuila defeated the seasoned archer Luis Álvarez from Baja California with a score of 6-4 in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the medalist of the previous Olympic Games in London 2012, Aida Román, was unable to overcome the challenge posed by Karyme Rodríguez from Baja California, losing 7-3 in the semifinals.

Similarly, the regiomontana Mariana Avitia, who also won a medal in London 2012, was eliminated by the Yucatecan archer María Espinosa with a score of 7-1.

Thus, Espinosa took home the gold medal after defeating Karyme Rodríguez 6-2. Sonoran archer Alejandra Valencia, who had previously defeated Rebeca Márquez from Baja California 6-2, won the bronze medal by beating Aida Román by the same score.

In the men's final, Carlos Rojas from Querétaro claimed the gold medal with a 7-3 victory over Mario Figueroa from Baja California. The bronze medal went to Israel Figueroa from Mexico State, who defeated Iván González from Saltillo with a score of 6-2.

In the compound bow category, the gold medal was won by Juan Carlos del Río from Yucatán, who triumphed in a tiebreaker against Rodolfo González de Alba from Aguascalientes. The bronze medal was awarded to Antonio Hidalgo from Baja California Sur, who defeated Miguel Becerra from Jalisco 149-145.

In the women's division, Esmeralda Sánchez Morales from Yucatán captured the gold medal by winning a tiebreaker against Brenda Merino from Hidalgo, with both scoring 144 points. The bronze medal went to Fernanda Zepeda from Jalisco, who achieved a score of 143 compared to Margarita Valencia Trujillo from Sonora with 138 points.
