The last time the Copa del Rey final was played at the Santiago Bernabeu was in the 2012-13 season, when Atletico shocked Real Madrid by winning 2-1. But since then, for one reason or another, the white fortress has not hosted the final duel.
In fact, in the 2013-14 season, Madrid won the final against Barcelona at Mestalla. But in the following years, Florentino Perez did not give the green light for the Bernabeu to be the venue for the final, precisely in the years when the whites were eliminated in previous stages and the Blaugrana reached the title.
Coincidence or not, the truth is that with another elimination of Madrid, the jokes did not take long to arrive. Especially one that exploded on Twitter, about the 'excuse' that Florentino has used to prevent Barcelona from playing the final of the Copa at the 'Casa Blanca': the bathrooms are under construction.

And although it is already known that this season's final will be played at the Wanda Metropolitano, social media wasted no time in mocking Real Madrid's defeat against Leganes and reminding the Madrid boss of the excuse he has used in recent years.
The Real Madrid suffered a 'pepinazo' in the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey on Wednesday after falling to Leganes, leaving a bleak outlook for the whites and their manager Zinedine Zidane, who can only cling to the 'Champions League' as their saving grace of the season.
