Cristiano Ronaldo accused of narcissism after celebrating goal with selfie
Many detractors of Cristiano Ronaldo accused him of narcissism after taking a phone to check his face after a strong blow in his second goal in the 7-1 victory over Deportivo La Coruña.
Cristiano Ronaldo didn't publicly explain the reasons why he did that, but Zinedine Zidane did. The Real Madrid coach defended the Portuguese ace from all criticism with this quote.
"He looked at his phone because he wanted to see the extent of the injury. If he has trained with his eye like that today, it means that the most important thing for him is the team," said the Real Madrid coach.
"All he wanted was to see his wound and its depth. And I'm not making anything up, I'm simply explaining what he told us in the dressing room. They stitched it up and this morning he's already back with us," he added.
Cristiano Ronaldo caught the attention of all football fans by appearing at Real Madrid training with a bruise on his left eye. Despite this discomfort, he chose to work in the adjacent fields of Valdebebas.
So far in La Liga, Cristiano Ronaldo has scored six goals. A very low record compared to previous seasons where he surpassed an average of 10 goals in one round.
