The highest category of world motorsport will have the most comprehensive multiplatform coverage on FOX Sports. More than 300 hours of live programming dedicated to F1 with live races and original productions featuring the best specialists for the best experience.
FOX Sports Latin America announced today the acquisition of the exclusive broadcast rights for television and digital platforms of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship in Latin America for the next five years, from 2018 to 2022.
Through this agreement, FOX Sports, FOX Sports 3, and FOX Premium Action will have practice sessions, qualifying tests, and all races, totaling 21 in 2018, and comprising more than 300 hours of live broadcasting. This will ensure the best and most comprehensive coverage of Formula 1, led by the most prominent professionals in the discipline, including Fernando Tornello, Adrián Puente, Luis Manuel "Chacho" López, and Juan Fossaroli.
The FOX Sports broadcasts will begin with the new season of Formula 1, whose first race of the year, the Rolex Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, will take place in the city of Melbourne on March 25, 2018.
Additionally, original productions such as The Formula 1 Show, GP1, and FOX Sports Circuit will serve as a framework from the place of action to experience the previous, during and post stages, review the most important events of the category, have exclusive interviews with the drivers, and analyze each competition to provide the most detailed coverage. Additionally, speed fans can also enjoy all the action of Formula 2 and GP3 races on FOX Sports.
"We are happy to have such a relevant property as Formula 1 back on FOX Sports in our solid automotive content proposal. We are their home, with over 15 seasons broadcasting it. We are very grateful to Formula 1 for trusting FOX Sports and our team to bring their product to more than 45 million Spanish-speaking households in Latin America."
"This property complements our strong Motorsport offer, along with Formula E, Nascar, the World Rally Championship, the WEC, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Rally Dakar," said Carlos Martinez, president of FOX Networks Group Latin America.
At the same time, as part of the strategy to make the sport available to the widest possible audience, in addition to certain digital rights, Formula 1 has retained the right to authorize the commercialization of live coverage on open signal for any race held in the region in the relevant market and the highlighted images broadcast on open signal in the rest of the region.
