NFL Announces Gene Steratore as Referee for Super Bowl LII

The National Football League (NFL) has announced that Gene Steratore will be the head referee for Super Bowl LII, which will take place on February 4th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The NFL has released an official statement on their website, naming Steratore as the person in charge of ensuring fairness on the field. The rest of the officiating staff will include Roy Ellison, Jerry Bergman, Byron Boston, Tom Hill, Scott Edwards, and Perry Paganelli.

The team of seven referees has a combined experience of 127 years, with 101 official assignments in the postseason.

To be eligible to referee the "Super Sunday" game, referees must score above average in the NFL's evaluation system, have at least five years of experience in the league, and have been assigned postseason games.

Gene Steratore, 54 years old and originally from Pennsylvania, made his NFL debut in 2003, replacing Bernie Kukar as the head referee in the game between the Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants.
