The Frenchman did not regret finishing 16 points behind Barcelona and does not consider the league lost because "there is still a lot left".

Zinedine Zidane attributes Real Madrid's draw against Celta Vigo to lack of consistency

French coach Zinedine Zidane, the coach of Real Madrid, attributed his team's draw tonight against Celta Vigo (2-2) to the "lack of consistency" shown by his players, especially in the second half, where, in his opinion, they did not play "as they should".

"We didn't play the second half like the first. We needed to play for ninety minutes. We played really well for 45 minutes, but the second half was much worse," said the coach of Real Madrid in a press conference, who repeated several times that his team needs to "play with more consistency".

"We need to analyze our game in depth. We weren't good in ball possession, we made many mistakes that usually aren't a problem for us but today it was. When you see the opponent struggling, you have to go and try to hurt them, but here we did the opposite," he said.

Zidane accepted his share of the blame, "I am responsible for detecting the team's problems," and insisted: "Sometimes we play really well for 90 minutes, but lately we haven't been able to do it. They hurt us with their pressing in the second half and we didn't play as we should. Football isn't always as you think, sometimes there are moments of difficulties. It's not that we played poorly for the entire second half, but there are things that aren't like us."

"We need to have more confidence in our abilities. We need to play well for two, three, or four games to have that consistency," the Frenchman stressed, who doesn't consider the league lost because "there is still a long way to go".

"We don't talk about the league every weekend. We lose points and if we lose points, we can't catch up. We need to take it match by match and win the games, nothing else," said Zidane, who didn't regret the 16-point gap with Barcelona.

"We can't be satisfied but tomorrow is another day. We need to play with more consistency but we can't go crazy either," said the Real Madrid coach, who, when asked about Florentino Pérez's presence in the dressing room after the match, said that "he came to cheer us up, as he does many times".

When asked if he will request reinforcements, Zidane was firm: "For now, I don't want anyone. Until the 31st, we'll see what happens but for now, I'm happy with my squad." EFE
