The Guadalajara Chivas, coached by Argentine Matías Almeyda, came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw at Toluca's home in the continuation of the first round of the Mexican Clausura 2018.
Ernesto Alexis Vega (m.23) converted for Toluca under the Argentine coach Hernán Cristante, while Javier Eduardo López (m.52) scored the equalizer.
It was a match with a lively first half in which Guadalajara came out to press but it was Toluca that had the best opportunities. In the 11th minute, Mexican Leonel López hit the crossbar with a shot, and in the next play, Colombian Fernando Uribe did the same, in a pair of dangerous attacks.
Vega accepted a pass in the area in the 23rd minute and with an elegant bicycle kick put the ball in the net to give the home team the advantage.
Guadalajara fought and in the 44th minute came close to the equalizer with a header from Hedgardo Marín well cleared by goalkeeper Luis García; it was Javier Eduardo López who, in the 52nd minute, accepted a pass in the area and controlled it with his chest to salvage the draw in a controversial action where the home team claimed handball.
Toluca took a while to recover and Guadalajara seemed content with the draw, which lowered the intensity of the last part of the match, a result that favored Guadalajara more for having played away on a difficult field, at an altitude of 2,600 meters above sea level.

The Guadalajara Chivas, one of the most emblematic teams in Mexican football, will play away against Toluca on Sunday in their debut in the 2018 Clausura tournament of the Liga MX.
