Philippe Coutinho signs record deal with Barcelona
Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool FC has been signed by Barcelona in a record-breaking deal, according to several Spanish media outlets.
The Catalan sports newspaper 'Sport' reported that both clubs have reached a preliminary agreement for Coutinho's transfer for 120 million euros ($144.34 million), plus 40 million euros in add-ons, in a five-year contract.
This signing eclipses the 105 million euros that Barcelona paid to Borussia Dortmund for French forward Ousmane Dembélé in August. It would also make Coutinho the second most expensive player in history, behind his fellow countryman Neymar. Undoubtedly, Liverpool is considered one of the best selling clubs in the world.
