Kelvin De la Nieve has stated that he is ready to "die in the ring" to win a medal in the European Championship

The boxer from Huelva, who has been training at the competition venue for a few days, has declared to Efe that "the main objective" is to qualify for the world championship, but that "the idea is to return to Spain with a medal or finish as close as possible".

"My fitness level is improving more and more," highlighted De la Nieve, who hopes to "have a bit of luck in the matches," although he is focused on "doing things well."

He has pointed out that the "most dangerous" rivals are the representatives of Bulgaria, who also compete at home, and those of Moldova. However, he has noted that "at this stage, everyone is very complicated and everyone wants a spot for the World Championship," which will be obtained by the top eight.

In this regard, he has recalled that "the medalists in the World Championship directly qualify for the Rio Games," although the classification options do not end there as there will be pre-Olympic tournaments next year.
