With two goals from Jesse Lingard, Manchester United salvaged a draw against Burnley on Boxing Day, allowing them to remain in second place in the Premier League, two points ahead of Chelsea, who defeated Brighton.

Devils secured a draw

On the traditional Boxing Day, José Mourinho's team achieved their second consecutive draw, which distances them further from leader Manchester City, who on Wednesday against Newcastle could extend their advantage over their neighbors to 15 points.

Ashley Barnes, from a set piece (3'), and the Belgian Steven Defour, with an impeccable direct free kick (36'), gave Burnley the lead in the first half and caused jeers from Old Trafford towards their own players. In the second half, Jesse Lingard's substitution for an unfortunate Zlatan Ibrahimovic resulted in two goals from the Englishman, the second of which came in stoppage time (53' and 90+1').

In other matches of the day, André Carrillo's Watford (10) defeated Leicester City (8) 2-1, while the rest ended in draws: Huddersfield (12) - Stoke (13), West Brom (19) - Everton (9), and Bournemouth (18) - West Ham (17).
