Video Games and eSports: A Year of Growth and Controversy

This year has been one of the most important for the video game industry and eSports, with the creation of various leagues and new titles compatible with electronic sports, such as PUBG for example, which have helped grow the industry in 2017.

However, it hasn't been all positive. The winter edition of Gamergy, one of the most important eSports events in Spain, saw its organization limited when Activision confirmed its own league for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Australia, and Spain.

The so-called National Circuit will consist of four tournaments next year, which conflicts with the national tournaments organized in the aforementioned countries. This way, Gamergy was left without its classic COD competition, which could disappear forever due to this new organization.

As a result, thousands of players who were upset with Activision complained on their social media and even created a massive petition on change.org to bring back the Superliga Orange competition of Call of Duty.

Through an official statement, due to the complaints spreading across all countries, not only Spain, Activision has confirmed that they are open to any independent proposal to organize official tournaments. This way, LVP and Gamergy could have these competitions back, only if their official distributor authorizes it.
