FC Barcelona confirmed this morning that Argentine defender has been elected as fourth team captain.
In a squad vote that was held before this morning’s training session, they players voted on the captain positions. The outcome confirmed that last season’s captains all remain: Iniesta, Busquets and Messi with Mascherano being added to the list.
The Argentinean defender got the nod ahead of Gerard Piqué, who has spent more time at the club and in the past has stated his interest in weaning the captain’s armband for the Catalan club.
