Historic Royal Rumble Match for Women to Take Place at WrestleMania
For the first time in history, the female stars of WWE will participate in a Royal Rumble match. This will take place on Sunday, January 28th, and the winner will earn a championship opportunity at WrestleMania 34 in April. The news was announced on Raw by Stephanie McMahon.
The women's Royal Rumble match is a milestone in the evolution of women in WWE. It has put them in the spotlight, involving them in more important stories, with deeper character development and longer matches.
"The first women's Royal Rumble will mark a significant moment in the evolution of WWE. These women are role models, inspiring and empowering young girls to be more confident and stronger. They deserve their own Royal Rumble," said the company's heir.
At WrestleMania 32, WWE created a new Women's Championship and renamed the Divas Division to become the Women's Division. Since then, WWE has placed a greater emphasis on their female representatives, including recruiting female talent from around the world, such as the recent signings of the first female recruits from the Middle East and India.
This year, WWE created the first women's tournament, the Mae Young Classic, which included the top 32 competitors from 16 countries, expanding the international diversity of women in the sport. Additionally, recently, superstars Sasha Banks and Alexa Bliss were part of the first women's match in the Middle East.
