What does it feel like the day after finishing thirteenth in the British Open?

What does it feel like? (sighs) I don't know, I'm very proud, I still haven't assimilated it. I feel like I played just another tournament, but it's not like that. These days I haven't been nervous, in fact, I'm more nervous today than during the four days of competition, but very happy.

The best amateur trophy is very special, isn't it?

Yes, it is quite special. It's a very special trophy because the competition among amateurs was very high. For example, I remember Celine Boutier, the British Open Amateur champion, was there. There was a high level, I gained experience and a great trophy.

On the fourth day, you achieved your best score in the British Open, 69 strokes. What were your sensations during the round?

I was very confident with my putts. I started the round with a bogey because I couldn't reach the green on the first hole any day. Then I finished with birdies on holes two and three and got below par. After that, everything went more smoothly until I reached the last hole where I almost made a birdie, I came close but couldn't do it.

How was the experience of competing with the best golfers in the world?

I was excited to see them live and see how they played. I loved the experience, and it also made me realize that there are things to improve in order to go far. What sets us apart from the professionals is that they have a very organized mindset. The game is very similar, but the mind plays a big role. In addition, having a caddie's help benefits the players a lot.

Your father is also your coach, I suppose he must be delighted.

My father is extremely proud, very happy. The British Open is his favorite tournament among all the ones in golf worldwide. The fact that I finished thirteenth makes him like it even more.

Yesterday we saw photos of you with Inbee Park, each with your trophy. What do you think of the champion of this 2015?

She is the number one in the world and has achieved a Grand Slam, that says it all. Her game, well, she has a slightly strange swing (laughs) but she is very organized. Then she gets to the green and sinks putts from anywhere. As I said before, the mindset makes the difference.

What is your assessment of this British Open?

It's a great experience. I have improved my self-confidence a lot. In addition, having a caddie has helped me a lot with the strategy on the course, which has always been one of my weaknesses. I have to assimilate what I have achieved and keep improving.

What goals do you set for yourself after finishing this tournament?

My main goal right now is to get the European Tour card. Currently, I am playing the LET Access, which are second-tier tournaments of the European Tour, and I have to finish in the top five of the ranking to obtain it.

Will we see Luna Sobrón as a professional soon?

Yes, I hope to be there soon. I hope to turn professional at the end of this year, although I need sponsors because playing on the European Tour and not having someone supporting you from behind is difficult. If everything goes well and I have the card, I will be a professional at the end of the year.

To conclude, can you tell us any funny anecdote during these competition days?

The training sessions were quite fun. On the first day, I played alone, but on the second day of training, I played with Minje Lee, whom I knew from the Australian Open, and then with Catriona Matthews, one of the best Scottish players at the moment. Before reaching the first hole, I was super nervous, I think more than in the entire tournament, so I set up and hit a duff. (laughs) Then they asked me "do you want to hit another?" and well, it improved quite a bit.
