Italian goalkeeper Donnarumma under pressure to cancel Milan contract
The young Italian goalkeeper of Milan, Gianluigi Donnarumma, claims to have suffered "psychological pressures" during the summer to renew his contract until 2021 with the Lombard club, and now intends to cancel it, as reported by Italian media on Tuesday.
According to Corriere della Sera, Donnarumma's agent, the powerful Mino Raiola, asked Milan to terminate the contract due to these pressures. According to the newspaper, neither Raiola nor the player's lawyer were present when he signed it.
A precocious phenomenon, Donnarumma has been a starter in Milan's goal since he was 16, and many see him as Buffon's successor in the Azzurra.
If the renewal for three years were to be canceled, Donnarumma would return to the previous contract, which expires on June 30, 2018, and would become a free agent in the summer transfer window.
According to several media sources, Paris SG is interested in his services. If Milan does not qualify for the next edition of the Champions League (currently seventh, 9 points behind fourth place), it would bring the goalkeeper closer to the exit door.
The goalkeeper had declined to renew his contract with Milan last June, which sparked the anger of fans who displayed a banner with the wordplay 'Dollarumma' and threw fake money onto his goal.
Finally, the goalkeeper sealed his renewal for three years with a salary close to 5 million euros per year, according to the press.
