It was more than seven years ago, in the Bicentennial 2010, when Cruz Azul made official the signing of Christian Giménez at the request of Enrique Meza, the coach who had directed him for three years at Pachuca, where he won the Clausura 2007, the Copa Sudamericana 2006, two Concacaf titles, and a Superliga.
A moment of glory against América
In his first tournament with the team, the Argentinean only managed to score two goals with the Blue. However, for the Apertura, he began to shine, earning his place as a Cruz Azul idol on October 3, 2010, after scoring the goal that gave the Celestes a victory over América for the first time in seven years.
The goal came in the 52nd minute of the match, after Javier Aquino took a throw-in, which bounced and reached Giménez, who with a powerful right-footed shot, defeated Guillermo Ochoa.
