Unai Emery expressed his thoughts to the club's media after the matches against Watford and Brighton in England. With a win and a loss, the Basque wanted to look towards the Super Cup with caution as the premise: "We close another week of preparation with a view to polishing things for the Super Cup. I take away more positive things than negative ones and having been able to gather information on how the players are and how the group is building synergies at the level of the game and supporting workloads. We are gradually assuming that the competition is near and that serves us to connect a line of play towards what we want."

Regarding the results, he was clear: "We didn't give importance to the victory in Watford and we don't give importance to this defeat either, although we didn't want it. We are looking for preparation, which is the most important thing, but in the end they are matches and things happen like Reyes' injury or the penalty play, which if it happened to you in a competitive match it would mark a game. We want to complement the preparation with good results and these things hurt you, but we continue our path and now we start another cycle thinking about Tuesday 11. What happens with AEK will be a preview of the final and we still wanted to polish and improve things."

Emery did not hesitate to look to the future: "Our first objective is the Super Cup, but it cannot mortgage our season in the League, Champions and Copa del Rey. Last season we had a preparation with a squad to build and players who left at the last moment, circumstances that made us not arrive well. I did not like the image we gave against Real Madrid and this year we want to arrive in better shape, we have the squad ready and the idea is to be in better physical condition. We want to do something important in Tbilisi, but without forgetting that the truly important thing is the League."

Regarding the incidents and the blows from Immobile and Reyes, he was unequivocal: "It is part of the game and we are exposed to it. Reyes went strong for a ball and came out with a cut and a small concussion that we hope will amount to nothing. These are variables that happen and for that we have a balanced squad. For example, Juan Muñoz had to play both matches and it is logical that he is tired, but these are situations that we have to handle."
