Ojuela Trail 2017

Laguna MTB will hold the 'Ojuela Trail 2017' athletic race on Sunday, December 10th, with a 12-kilometer route that covers part of the challenging orography of Mapimí, Durango.

This was announced by Mijail Kireev, member of the organizing committee, along with Antonio Niño and Dalia González, representative of the Ojuela Bridge Foundation, which supports the realization of this interesting test whose route includes 800 meters of mine route, 315 meters of the suspension bridge, and 360 meters of accumulated altitude.

The registration fee includes a chip, commemorative shirt, and a buff bandana for the first 100 registered participants, a chance to win prizes, and a fruit cocktail upon reaching the finish line.

The event is a unique Trail Run race that is open to all athletes from the region and visitors, who will start from the toll booth at the bridge junction at 8:00 am. The finish line will be located on the esplanade of the suspension bridge.

The trail is of medium difficulty, with steep climbs and descents, and access to the mine from the back. All cyclists must carry a lamp to pass through the mine, where some of the biggest challenges of the route are located.

It is expected that around 180 runners will participate, mostly mountain bikers who are already familiar with the route and will now do it on foot for the first time, which means a greater effort.

Number distribution will take place on the previous Saturday starting at 3:00 pm, at Laguna MTB located on the road to San Pedro, in front of UVM.

Trail Run athletes such as Lalo Beltrán, Roberto Echavarri, and Sandra Carrillo are expected to participate, among others who have the best times in this type of competition in the region.

Dalia González, on the other hand, mentioned that there will be support from the municipality of Mapimí for the development of this event, and there will be special promotions for the runners and their families in the different activities that take place around the Ojuela Bridge.
