Antonio Hortal
Antonio Hortal has signed a round that allows him to maintain some option to win the Madeira Open. The Spanish golfer did not start in the best way, adding a bogey on the 3rd hole, which would be added to two more on the tenth and sixteenth. Three birdies saved his day, which ended with 72 strokes, right on par. After finishing his round, he remains seventh in the overall standings with 206 strokes (-10).
Third round surprises with a change in leadership
A new change of leader has occurred in the third round. Swedish golfer Pontus Widegren signed a card with 67 strokes, which added to the scores of the previous two days leaves him as the sole leader, with 200 strokes (-16). Scottish golfer Scott Henry and Finnish golfer Roope Kakko are tied for second place in the overall standings with 201 strokes (-15). The leader at the end of the second round, Sam Walker, lost his position after a bad round. The British golfer's 71 strokes ended his leadership, leaving him tied with Hortal in seventh position.
Other Spanish golfers in the rankings
The highest-ranked Spanish golfer after Hortal is Carlos Del Moral. The golfer from Valencia finished the round with 68 strokes (-4) thanks to seven birdies that compensated for his three bogeys. Meanwhile, the rest of the Spanish golfers are scattered in the rankings: Adrián Otaegi is twenty-second after shooting four under par today, and Elvira has fallen to twenty-eighth position with 210 strokes. Pedro Oriol, with 211, is in thirty-fifth place, and Cuartero-Blanco completes the Spanish participation in fifty-third place in the Madeira rankings.
