The Colombian Alexis Mendoza will not renew his contract for 2018
Colombian Alexis Mendoza is the first coach who will not renew his contract for 2018 in the national tournament. The barranquillero advanced his decision after being out of the fight for the first place of the stage with Independiente del Valle.
"Definitely I'm leaving when the tournament is over, that is agreed with the directors," said the strategist, after the achieved victory (4-1) over Guayaquil City, in Sangolquí.
"The recent results have made us all upset, dissatisfied, that's why we reached that conclusion of leaving at the end of the season," said Mendoza, referring to the five winless matches that left the Sangolquileños out of the fight. They were even leaders for a part of the stage, but now they only aspire to qualify for the 2018 Libertadores.
Mendoza took charge of the club in August 2016. (D)
