Atlas complains about referee's performance
Atlas were not satisfied with Luis Enrique Santander's work in the first leg of the quarterfinals against Rayados, which is why the board lodged a complaint with the Liga MX offices, as they believe that the referee's work affected the result.
After the match on Thursday night at Estadio Jalisco, the coach of the Zorros expressed his opinion on the referees' work for the first time since taking charge, as Santander was the referee for the second leg of the quarterfinals against Chivas last tournament.
Atlas' frustration is based on a video that contains three key plays in their view: a penalty on Christian Tabó by goalkeeper Hugo González and a handball in the box by Jesús Molina. Both plays occurred in the first half.
In addition, they believe that Avilés Hurtado should have been sent off for a studs-up tackle on Ravel Morrison in the midfield in the second half of the match. Atlas will travel to Monterrey with a 2-1 disadvantage and must win by a two-goal margin to advance to the semifinals.
The purpose of the complaint is simply to make the Liga's people aware of Santander's performance during the match, as no further action can be taken at this point. The second leg between these two teams will be refereed by Jorge Isaac Rojas next Sunday.
