14 goals conceded in 13 matchdays of Serie A. That is one of the statistics that explains the irregular trajectory that Juventus has been having. Although they are still in the title race (third, four points behind the leader, Napoli), the bianconeri have lost a great part of their defensive solidity and have let slip many more points than expected at this stage of the season.
Conscious that a great part of their recent success has been caused by the sensational performances of their defense (last season they conceded 27 goals in the whole championship), the board has decided to enter the market in search of a player who can improve this position.
In this regard, according to the website CalcioMercato.it, the two main objectives of the club for the upcoming season are Italian Alessio Romagnoli (22 years old) and Uruguayan José María Giménez (22). The first one could leave AC Milan if the rossoneri fail to secure a spot in the next edition of the Champions League; while the second one could consider a change of scenery if his role at Atletico Madrid continues to be as secondary as it has been so far.
Similarly, in Beppe Marotta's agenda there is also room for Tilo Kehrer, a young German center-back (21 years old) who has managed to establish himself as one of the pillars of Schalke 04 this season. The under-21 international is currently valued at around €25 million.
