Note about Joan Laporta criticizing FC Barcelona

The lawyer Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona from 2003 to 2010, criticized today that the Catalan team did not appeal against the 30,000 euro fine imposed by UEFA for exhibiting pro-independence flags during the June Champions League final, as well as chants from the stands.

The former president used social media to deliver a strong message: "We do not give up, for many reasons, such as having a board that complies with sanctions for displaying 'estelades' (Catalan pro-independence flag) in Berlin".

Continued opposition

In addition to this criticism, the candidate in the previous Barcelona elections, has set September as the time to continue with his announced opposition, after losing the elections against Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"I will continue fighting to prevent Barcelona from having a president who is under investigation. Because of this president, Barcelona is being investigated for the first time in its history, and I will continue fighting for the club to stop being sold out to Qatar," he said in a video posted on social media.

Criticism of current management

He has also criticized the policies of the current managers, who came to power after the elections on July 18, stating that he does not share "the club's model", which he considers "unsustainable in terms of sports, social, and economic aspects".

"I highly value the result obtained in the elections (he received 15,615 votes, compared to the winner Josep Maria Bartomeu's 25,823), especially when we had to fight against all odds.
