Abraham Ancer saves himself from being cut at OHL Classic de Mayakoba

Two birdies in his last holes kept Mexican golfer Abraham Ancer safe from being cut at the end of the second day of the OHL Classic de Mayakoba.

Ancer, who couldn't finish his round yesterday due to weather conditions, heavy rain with high electric activity, was able to get back on the green of the Camaleón course until 1:40 in the afternoon to complete the six holes he had left.

The Mexican climbed 20 positions compared to the first round, to be tied for 53rd place with two strokes under par, eight strokes behind leaders Patton Kizzire, Patrick Rodgers, and Rickie Fowler.

After a 26-hour wait to complete the 18 holes, the rest of the field finished their round to make way for the third round, which will start after four in the afternoon. The last groups that will tee off today will not be able to complete the entire course, so if the weather permits it, tomorrow will be a double round, forcing the golfers to complete the remaining holes.

"This is not the longest round of my career, that was about five years ago, I don't remember well... but we started the first round on Thursday and completed it on Monday... the only thing you have to have is patience and play when you can, and rest the remaining time without getting desperate," said Rickie Fowler, the highest-ranked player attending the Mexican green.

Fowler mentioned that before this round, he had trouble sleeping during the night due to the thunderstorm and the noise of the thunder, but he managed to recover in the morning as the action began.
