Our special envoys to New Zealand, Omar Ruíz de Somocurcio and Arturo Aliaga, were assaulted while carrying out their journalistic work covering the events leading up to the playoff match between Peru and the oceanic country.
There were two individuals, apparently intoxicated, who dedicated themselves to harassing our press team, following them for several blocks, interrupting broadcasts, and hurling insults.
When Ruíz de Somocurcio and Aliaga decided to enter a bar to avoid the presence of these undesirables, they followed them inside and continued with the harassment, ultimately assaulting our journalists. Hours later, Ruíz explained in detail the incident which resulted in some damaged equipment.
