The Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari bid farewell yesterday, from the field, to the Guangzhou Evergrande fans, after the last match of the Chinese championship against Tianjin Quanjian, even though he was suspended.
"Thanks to Guangzhou Evergrande for allowing me to come to China and Guangzhou, where I have spent two and a half very pleasant years with you," said the former coach of Brazil and Portugal with a microphone.
Scolari, 68 years old, went down to the field of Tianhe Stadium after the last matchday of the Super League to share the joy with his players, who received the champion trophy. The Cantonese club had already secured the title of Chinese champion, the seventh trophy they win in two years with Scolari.
Italians Fabio Cannavaro and Carlo Ancelotti, and German Thomas Tuchel are mentioned as possible replacements. (D)
