The Leganés has a new reinforcement

The Leganés has a new reinforcement. Alexander Szymanowski, 26-year-old left winger from the Danish Brondby, is from this morning a Pepeinero footballer. He will be for the next two seasons. Sign until 2017 in what could be considered a surprise addition. No one expected it. It was not among the men who were handled to strengthen the white and blue attack.

That, however, does not stop him from becoming one of the most important arrivals for the upcoming season. His class and versatility (he moves easily throughout the attack) transform him into that category of players that Garitano demanded to enhance the quality of his squad, to take a leap towards higher goals.

In Madrid they know this because he is an old acquaintance of local football. It could be said that, despite his nationality and his Polish surname (his paternal grandfather left Europe to make a living on the other side of the Atlantic), Szymanowski is an adoptive Madrilenian.

With just 12 years old he landed in the capital and caught the attention of the lower categories of Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. He was not lucky and ended up in San Sebastián de los Reyes where he grew up until signing for RSD Alcalá. After helping the Alcalá team to avoid relegation in Segunda B, his destiny took him one step further, to Segunda División, to Recreativo de Huelva. It was there, at the Nuevo Colombino, where he exploded at just 23 years old.

He did it alongside an old acquaintance of the Pepeineros. He and Chuli formed a lethal left-handed duo that easily saved the Decano. After that season, the 2012-2013 season, their paths separated. One went to Betis. The other, Szymanowski, ended up at Brondby in Denmark where he has played 54 games and scored six goals after playing two complete seasons and three matches of the current season (in Denmark they start earlier), in which he has even debuted in the Europa League.

With his signing, Leganés already has 18 players in the squad, to which the confirmed additions of Víctor Díaz (right back from Recre) and Omar Ramos (offensive midfielder from Valladolid) will have to be added. Gabriel Appelt, Brazilian defensive midfielder from the lower categories of Juventus, could become, as reported by the newspaper As, the 21st player of a team that, with these signings, would only need to close a forward and a goalkeeper, according to sources close to the white and blue entity.
